In 2018 Choice had a fantastic year helping over 1800 clients secure mortgages worth over £375 million. This was a substantial increase on 2018 and shows that our clients really value our Independent Mortgage Advice. This has helped grow our mortgage adviser team to 13 advisers and our back office technology means we are able to help clients all around the UK.
More people are seeking mortgage advice due to the complexities of the market and the huge variations in criteria of different lenders, and it is fantastic that we have able to help more people than ever before.
Being independent advisers with access to the whole market means that we are able to help clients with different mortgage needs and help more of those whose needs may not fit high street banks. The UK now has the largest ever percentage of the population working on a self-employed basis and many more working on short term contracts. Historically the perception has been that it is harder to get a mortgage in these scenarios, but with such a huge choice of lender, we are able to secure mortgages and help many more in these situations.
In 2018 we have managed to help a large number of first-time buyers, those looking to remortgage and those looking to move house. We have also helped landlords grow their portfolio’s, secure new rates on properties that they already own and arrange mortgages within Limited Companies, which is a growing part of the market.
To highlight the variety of our service and the needs of our clients, the smallest loan we arranged in 2018 was £7,700 and the largest was a portfolio of properties with £23 million of lending. We have helped clients buy properties of £65,000 up to £2.5 million.
Looking forward to 2019, we expect much of the same. The lending market is very competitive, which is keeping rates at very low levels and more lenders are entering the market. The choice available to our clients is vast and obtaining independent advice has never been more important.
Many client’s fixed rate deals will be ending this year and we are able to secure one of the many low fixed rates currently on offer to help reduce their monthly payments.
Despite the political uncertainty property is still considered to be a secure long-term investment and people still need somewhere to live. We therefore expect 2019 to be another successful year and look forward to helping many more clients in the year ahead.
