An insight into the life & work of Jodie from Choice Mortgage Solutions
Jodie has been a dedicated member of the Choice Mortgage Solutions team for nearly 2 years since 2019, having previously provided administrative support to director Chris and to other members of our team.
Jodie recently completed the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMap) and is now a qualified mortgage adviser working in our growing team, drawing on the experience she has gained within the business to help her clients on their exciting home buying journey.
We decided to interview Jodie about her experience and get an insight into her life, working within the property industry.
1. How long have you worked at Choice Mortgage Solutions?
Just under two years now after returning to the industry after a lengthy gap to bring up my 3 daughters. Pre children, I had been Underwriting for just short of 10 years with Barclays and then Platform.
2. What inspired you to work in the property industry, specifically within the mortgage advice sector?
Starting at Choice as an Administrator has certainly given me the foundations to build upon for my career in Advising and coming from an Underwriting background, I already had a pretty good understanding of the industry. In terms of advising, it had always been in my plans prior to children.
Now being back in the industry and the children are older, I thought now’s the time to do my exams and was then presented with the opportunity to advise.
3. Congratulations on your recent qualification to become a mortgage adviser. How are you enjoying your new role?
Thanks! It feels good to put my knowledge to good use and to now be able to provide professional advice to my clients.
4. What is your favourite part about the work that you do for Choice Mortgage Solutions?
I enjoy understanding the variety of processes and challenges it can bring and helping clients to achieve their property goals.
5. What areas of the country do you cover when working with clients?
We work with clients all over the country, but our team are mostly based in the South of the UK.
6. What do you like doing outside of work, when you are not being a mortgage advice superstar?
I enjoy watching my twins play football for our local team and catching up with friends and family both around Southampton and London (when Covid permits).
I am also studying for my degree with the Open University so that takes up a fair amount of my spare time. Other than that, the usual girlie things such as shopping and going for regular facials/ massages!
7. What advice would you give to anyone who wants to work in the industry?
Get some experience behind you first within the property market so you can build your knowledge.
8. What advice would you give to someone considering getting a mortgage?
It is always good to shop around for mortgage rates, and the best way to do that is by getting a mortgage specialist to help you. We have access to many deals and rates that are not available on the ‘High Street’, so what have you got to lose?
